about

We think life is stressful enough,
so church shouldn’t be.

Story Church is a safe place to discover Jesus for who He really is, and to join others on the journey of following Jesus.

At this stage of Story Church, we haven't officially launched weekly services yet, but are hosting a multitude of events and gatherings as well as serving our community in various ways around Bentonville and NWA.

Be sure to check out our events on this site as well as our social media to keep up with what's going on. We can't wait to hear your story!

Aaron & Renee are both honored and humbled to begin Story Church in The Greater Bentonville area. They have been involved in ministry for 20 years.  After spending the past 12 years planting a church outside of Pittsburgh, PA, God released them to come back to Arkansas.  The Johnson’s began building their church planting team in early 2019 and then moved to Bentonville in July of 2019. Aaron & Renee love traveling, exploring new coffee shops and restaurants in NWA. On Saturdays, you can find them “junking” at local antiques stores looking for the next find.

Growing up in church, ministry stole Mia’s heart at a relatively young age. Always hungry to be involved in the youth group band or worship teams, Mia knew worship leading would be a staple to her life & relationship with the Lord. She attended ministry schools in Chicago, IL, as well as Northern California for the last four years & was eagar to finally leap into a church leadership role. The Lord crossed her path with Aaron and Russ through a mutual friend in April 2020. And the rest is history! Mia is a singer / songwriter, as well as an owner of a thrift company, which consume most of the hours in her days. Truly a creative at her core.

Before joining the Story Church team, Russell spent the last 16 years planting two other churches in Morgantown, West Virginia and Olympia, Washington. Russell and Belinda have been married for 25 years, and together they have two children, Ryan and Janna. Ryan attends John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR, and Janna attends Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. In their spare time, Russell and Belinda enjoy hiking and camping, listening to records, and watching Magnum PI reruns. Russell is an unashamed and currently frustrated life long fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

our values

THE BIBLE

GOD WROTE A BOOK. We believe that the Bible is God’s Word to all men. Scripture was inspired by God through human authors, and therefore does not contain error of any kind. It is our standard for truth, faith and mission.

THE TRINITY

GOD: THREE IN ONE. We believe in the personal, triune God: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, eternally equal in Divine perfection and authority.

JESUS CHRIST

GOD IN THE FLESH We believe that Jesus has eternally existed in complete union with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He walked this earth as completely God and completely man. In the fullness of time, He came to Earth by being born to a virgin, lived a perfect life, died for the sin of all mankind on a cross, was buried, and resurrected three days later sealing the victory over sin and death. He then ascended to the glory of Heaven and will return to earth to rule and reign forever. He is our living Savior who felt our pain, breathed our air, and walked our sod, but remains perfect in His holiness and love, justice and mercy, truth and grace.

THE GOSPEL

GOD’S ONLY WAY. We believe that the good news of the gospel is the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus as a payment for sin. The moment a person asks for forgiveness and receives Jesus into his/her life by faith, he/she becomes a child of God, and is personally indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Once God gives eternal life, it cannot be lost. When He saves someone, that person is redeemed forever and kept eternally secure in Christ.

THE CHURCH

GOD’S DESIGN FOR COMMUNITY. The church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. This is expressed through a covenant relationship to obey Christ’s commands and taking the gospel to the world.

BAPTISM

A SNAPSHOT OF THE GOSPEL. A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR FAITH. Baptism is a public declaration of your inward faith. The water does not have saving power - it pictures the decision of your heart to trust in Jesus. Being immersed in water pictures the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. It is a public commitment to walk in newness of life as a follower of Jesus.
